The Office of Learning is made up of many different areas from around the school that support teaching and learning at ISB. They include:
Director of Learning
Stacy has been at ISB since 2014 and was previously Director of Curriculum and, Professional Learning at the American Embassy School in New Delhi, India. Stacy is most interested in the intersection of curriculum and, technology integration. Living at the crossroads of the two is where the fun is at.
Director of Student Support Services
Danette has served as an administrator and teacher in several international schools as well as public schools in the States. She specializes in supporting schools in their efforts to include diverse learners and expand services for students with more intensive needs.
Assistant Director of Learning
Ruth started as an IB English teacher, and has worked coordinating curriculum in Taiwan and South Korea before coming to ISB. Ruth likes conversations about why we do what we do as educators, and loves working with people who want to keep learning.
Kendra Daly, ES Literacy Coordinator
In her 17 years of working in elementary school, Kendra has cultivated a passion for the teaching of reading and writing. She collaborates with teachers in the Early Years to Grade 5 and is committed to co-constructing curriculum that promotes student agency.
Robin Mathews, MSHS Teaching and Learning Facilitator
Robin has worked as an MSHS Mathematics teacher, MSHS Computer Science teacher, Head of Grade, PreK-12 Mathematics R&D Co-Chair, STEAM designer, and is now doing maternity coverage as MSHS Teaching & Learning Facilitator. She is interested in equitable curricular, instructional, and assessment design to meet the needs of all students.
Janet Wang, Assessment Coordinator
Janet was an English teacher to local students of Elementary School and Middle School before coming to ISB. Now she has worked as an Assessment Coordinator, taking care of MAP and ISA tests, analyzing student assessment data.
Professional Learning Project Coordinator
Lissa has worked as a HS French teacher, a PK-12 Instructional Coach, COETAIL Managing Director, a HS EAL teacher, and now is excited to be working part-time in the OOL supporting professional learning at ISB. Lissa is passionate about the positive impact that professional learning and coaching can have on student learning.
Strategic Learning Coordinator
Jo has 12 years of teaching experience (8 as a High School English teacher at ISB)and is currently the Experiential and Service Learning Coordinator. She completed her Masters of International Development in 2015 and spent 2.5 y ears working on a variety of development projects in Lao PDR before returning to ISB. Jo is a bit obsessed with complex problems and hopes to be able to give students like ours tools, philosophies and dispositions for a better world.
Innovative Programs Leader
Julie has been teaching and learning internationally for the past 17 years. She has been a Design Teacher, an Ed Tech Facilitator. She started at ISB as a Design Facilitator to help develop the design curriculum and spaces at ISB. She is currently the Innovation Programs Leader. In this role, she is developing and revising our innovative programs to enhance authentic teaching and learning in both the middle and high schools.ulie Lemley
Educational Technology Coordinator
Clint has worked as an MSHS math teacher, an MSHS EdTech Facilitator, a K-12 Technology and Learning Coach and now the PK-12 Educational Technology Coordinator. He is interested in the power of educational technology to create transformative and authentic learning environments for students and teachers.
Gene MacLachlan, ES STEAM Facilitator
Gene has been a Science Specialist from PK-12, Technology Teacher, and Grade 5 Math and Science Teacher. Through his interactions with students, Gene hopes to see students making meaningful connections between their learning and their everyday experiences.
Angela Maez, ES STEAM Facilitator
Angela joined ISB in 2016, bringing a background in Arts Integration to her grade three classroom. She is now a Science and Social Studies curriculum area leader and focuses her energy on integration through the ES Design Lab. She loves sharing her passion for designing and making with children and sees every day is an opportunity to discover new ways to build connections between the classroom and the world.
Jeff Layman, MS Design Facilitator
Jeff started teaching Design at ISB in 2018, after having taught for several years in the Middle East and the US. He loves inspiring students to think creatively and “outside the box.” He is constantly in search of experiences that empower his students as makers and designers.
Kim Tresohlavy, MS Design Facilitator
Kim is new to ISB as the Robotics and Coding teacher and a Design Facilitator with a background in math, computer science, and robotics. She is passionate about computational thinking and how it can be leveraged across disciplines to increase students’ problem-solving skills in all areas of their lives.
Sam Griffin, HS Design Facilitator
Sam has worked as an MSHS Visual Arts and Design teacher, G2-12 Educational Technology Facilitator and ES/HS Design Facilitator. He was also a university lecturer of Communication Design and has industry experience in graphic & interactive design and illustration. Sam is inspired by the ways in which design education can combine authentic problem solving, transferrable skills and interdisciplinary knowledge.
Laura Brown, MSHS Educational Technology Facilitator
Laura began her teaching career as a Science and Chemistry teacher in Melbourne, Australia. Before long, her passion for creativity and innovation, led to various roles supporting teachers in the design of challenging, enriching and innovative learning tasks to address the diverse needs of students.
Library Media Specialists
Bec Taylor, LES Teacher Librarian
Bec has been a passionate educator of young children, as a homeroom teacher and librarian, for 15 years. She believes in the power of literature to act as mirrors, windows and sliding doors. Bec centers her teaching around building positive relationships with all members of the school community. Empowering students to be skilled researchers and enthusiastic readers are Bec’s highest priorities.
Paul Wong, UES Teacher Librarian
Paul has worked previously as a K-12 Librarian and now an Elementary Librarian at ISB since 2017. Paul works alongside teachers and coaches to support student learning with a variety of resources and research skills. Together with students he is interested in creating passionate readers and empowered users of information.
Jessica Levitt, MS Teacher Librarian
Jess believes that reading matters, that all readers can be connected to the right books, and that together we are smarter. When she’s not working directly with students and teachers, she’s thinking deeply about the research process and the affective domain.
John Lemley, HS Teacher Librarian
John has been in his current role for the past 5 years. Prior to his role as librarian, John taught DP English, MYP Theatre, MYP Design, and was an MYP Personal Project Coordinator. He has a personal interest in interior renovations, gardening, and teaching students to question the accuracy and authenticity of the information they consume.
